The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), through the Regional Extension Unit III, accepted the Certificate of Recognition from the Philippine Airforce.
The first online specialized training entitled “Safe Use of Disinfection Chemicals”, in close coordination with the Environment Control Division (ECD), was conducted last October 9, 2020 via ZOOM platform. It was a nationwide attendance from the Northern part of Luzon to the remote areas of Mindanao where the 772nd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron, under the 770th Special Operations Combat Support Group of the Philippine Airforce (PAF) personnel are stationed. The primary tasked of the unit is to conduct Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosives (CBRNE) operations in different PAF bases in the Philippines.


To ensure the Safety and Health of the PAF personnel, now that disinfection of public places is an additional task during this pandemic, Ms Evelyn Tandayu RMT gave the overview of the training course. Topics about Chemical handling, storage and disposal, controls of Chemical Hazards, and DOLE DO 136-14 (Chemical Safety Program) was eagerly discussed by the Industrial Hygienists from the ECD. In addition, the Health Effects of Exposure to Disinfection Chemicals was discussed by the Chief of the Health Control Division, Dr. Ma. Beatriz Villaueva. Executive Director Engr. Noel C. Binag gave the closing remarks and a virtual ceremony from the Group Commander Col. Eulogio M. Nabua PAF (GSC) was held to award the Certificates of Appreciation.
A total of 56 participants under the wing of the 710th Special Operations Wing (SPOW), with headquarters at Col Ernesto Rabina Air Base, Capas, Tarlac, benefited from the said training.
