The Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC), thru its Regional Extension Unit in Region 12, successfully held the Free Webinar on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) for Workers in the Government Sector last October 27, 2020 at 1:00 PM via Zoom Application.

A total of 102 participants coming from the public sector were able to attend the online event. The primary objective of the said event is to explain the important features of the OSH Standards for the public sector, as well as the capacity building and other technical services that the OSHC freely offers, to ensure the safety and health of the government workers.

Engr. Noel C. Binag, the OSHC Executive Director, formally opened the virtual event through his warm and ever-informative message for the participants and guests. The program mainly focused on several important topics delivered by selected guest speakers specializing in these areas. The Salient Features of CSC-DOH-DOLE JMC No. 1, s. 2020 was discussed by Atty. Hannah D. Examen of Civil Service Commission Regional Office XII. It was followed by the presentation of the Role of DOH in the implementation of CSC-DOH-DOLE JMC No 1, S. 2020 explained by Maria Fe Viviane S. Sespeñe, MD, MPH, the Environmental & Occupational Health Cluster Head of DOH Region 12. Then, the Role of DOLE in the implementation of CSC-DOH-DOLE JMC No. 1, S. 2020 was further elaborated by the Occupational Safety and Health Center Training and Public Information Division (OSHC TPID). Moreover, a lecture about the Employee’s Compensation Program (ECP) was brought by Ms. Kaye Daga, Information Officer II – ECC R12.

After the 2-hour long lectures and presentations, an open forum was created for the participants’ any further concerns, questions, and clarifications regarding the topics discussed.

Finally, Engr. Nelia Granadillos, OIC – Deputy Executive Director, has given her heartfelt message and remarks to formally close the virtual program.

Each participant was also issued with an electronic certificate for actively joining the said webinar.
