Amidst the Covid-19 Pandemic and the transition of our society to the new normal, the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) through its Regional Extension Unit VIII, conducted its first free Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) training for Safety Officer 2 (SO2), held last February 14-18, 2022 for Private Establishments, of which 48 successful graduates from different Regions and now a certified SO2.

This free online training is in line with DOLE Department Order No. 198 series of 2018, implementing rules and regulations of Republic Act 11058, “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety Standards and Providing Penalties for Violation Thereof,” which aims to equip participants with basic knowledge on hazards and risk, determining appropriate control measures and developing and implementing OSH policies and programs in their respective workplaces.

The BOSH for SO2 training also serves as an opportunity to discuss the importance of ensuring safety and health at work, not only to protect the lives of workers but also, to ensure business continuity. We are encouraging everyone to be part of our OSH Vision 1 million advocates, and be an OSH Champion.
