CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – OSHC Region 10 successfully conducted a free Basic and Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Course for Safety Officer 1 (SO1) on December 3 – 4, 2020 via zoom application with the support from OSHC Central Office headed by its Executive Director Engr. Noel C. Binag and other OSHC Regional Extension Units.

A total of 36 participants from different Regions, 24 are males and 12 are females, successfully finished the course and is now a certified safety officer.

The BOSH for SO1 is an 8-hour OSH orientation with 2-hour Training of Trainers (TOT). The training was welcomed by DOLE 10 OIC Regional Director Albert E. Gutib and followed with an inspirational message by OSHC Executive Director Engr. Noel C. Binag.

The participants were able to identify basic knowledge and skills on identifying safety, health, and environmental hazards; general concepts on OSH; salient features of OSH legislations; Administrative OSH Requirements; Industrial Hygiene and Chemical Safety; Basic Safety Rules and Measures; and Workplace Emergency and Preparedness.

On Day 2, the participants were given a workshop entitled “Hazards Identification, Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC), where they were divided into groups and were directed to their respective breakout rooms to discuss their assigned hazards. At the end of their workshop they were given the opportunity to report their output via screen sharing.

A special module was also added during the training entitled “Control and Management of Covid-19 in the Workplace”.

The closing message was given by OSHC Region 10 Focal Person, Ms. Leizl Ann Marie Lee, RN.

OSHC Region 10 together with OSHC Central Office continues to provide and implement OSH-related activities to attain a healthy, well protected working population. //SP
