Davao City- With the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Occupational Safety and Health Center-Regional Extension Unit XI in collaboration with the Department of Health- ROXI conducted a free KamOSHTahan on “COVID-19 Workplace Prevention and Mental Health Preservation” via zoom conference last February 4, 2021. The webinar was participated by 208 OSH personnel from different sectors across the region.

RD Ofelia B. Domingo of DOLE Region XI in her opening remark emphasize the importance of Mental Health in this time of adversity while Engr. Noel C. Binag, Executive Director shared the activities for the entire year which includes series of free webinar training for mandatory OSH courses. And also, Doc. Annabelle Yumang, the Regional Director of the Department of Health-ROXI has also graced the event and delivered a brief yet impactful message regarding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The speakers were experts from the DOLE XI and DOH-ROXI. In congruence to the theme, topics on DOLE & DTI JMC No. 20-04 series of 2020 was thoroughly discussed by Engr. Yolibelle Aviñante and COVID-19 Prevention & Management in the Workplace specifically on detection, isolation, contact tracing and containment strategy were imparted by the DOH Team headed by Ms. Marialyn Avanceña, RN. The afternoon topics on Mental Health for Carers, Stress Management Technique and Covid-19 Vaccination Program highly captivated the minds of the participants knowing of its great importance to survive in this ongoing pandemic.

The event successfully concluded, with a message from Deputy Executive Director Nella M. Granadillos, of the Occupational Safety and Health Center. To the participants, it was a day filled with new knowledge and profound insights regarding the facts on COVID-19; and how to prevent and properly manage it should the virus reached their respective workplaces.
