The Occupational Safety and Health Center received its Certificate of Authority to Operate (CATO) from the Professional Regulatory Board of Chemistry for its Work Environment Measurement (WEM) Laboratory of the Environment Control Division. The certificate was awarded through virtual ceremony during the 5th National
Conference of Chemical Laboratories held on 25 November 2021.
The CATO is a requirement for all chemical laboratories or any establishment engaged in the practice of chemistry or chemical analysis in the Philippines pursuant to Section 35 of Republic Act 10657, otherwise known as the Chemistry Profession Act.
The WEM Laboratory of the OSHC is equipped with different laboratory analytical equipment and adopts NIOSH analytical methods and other internationally accepted laboratory procedures in analyzing samples collected during the conduct of Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment particularly from WEM sampling.
