A total of 3, 645 new safety officers from 2, 419 companies benefitted from the 101 batches of free online Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH ) Training for Safety Officer 1 conducted by the OSHC-Regional Extension Units from November to December 2021.
The 10-hr BOSH training features discussion on the importance of OSH, hazard identification, risk assessment, and control (HIRAC), industrial hygiene, basic safety rules and measures, OSH Legislation, and Employees’ Compensation Program.
Under the DOLE Department Order 198 series of 2018, all establishments are required to comply with the provisions of the OSH Standards to ensure safe and healthful employment. The number and qualifications of the safety officers should be proportionate to the total number of workers, classification of the workplace, among others. The designated safety officer shall undergo the necessary mandatory and other OSH-related training to ensure effective performance of his/ her duties and responsibilities.
All OSHC training is conducted online in compliance with the minimum public health standards and open to all micro and small enterprises with 50 and below employees.
