A total of 3, 108 new safety officers from 2, 004 companies benefitted from the 85 batches of on-line Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) for Safety Officer 1 and 40-hr BOSH for Safety Officer 2 training conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Center thru its Regional Extension Units and OSH Networks this September.

These trainings are made readily available for micro and small enterprises economically affected by the pandemic.

Under the DOLE Department Order 198 series of 2018, all establishments are required to comply with the provisions of the OSH Standards to ensure safe and healthful employment. The number and qualifications of the safety officers should be proportionate to the total number of workers, classification of the workplace, among others. The designated safety officer shall undergo the necessary mandatory and other OSH-related trainings to ensure effective performance of his/ her duties and responsibilities.

All OSHC trainings are conducted on-line in compliance with the minimum public health standards during this time of the pandemic.
