“We are grateful for the many initiatives of the Boracay Occupational Safety and Health Network (BOSHNet) in building and strengthening the culture or work safety and health in this area. This island has become an economic hub and workers from the various industries here need to be protected,” said Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) Executive Director during the meeting with BOSHNet today, January 18, 2020.
The OSHC, together with the DOLE Boracay Satellite Office, and the officials of the BOSHNet met to plan their programs for workers in Boracay especially for those in the underserved sectors.
To expand the awareness and understanding of Boracay workers on OSH, the DOLE, OSHC, and BOSHNet are working on developing an effective information campaign, providing access to OSH trainings, and cultivating more partnerships with stakeholders.
“We hope that these measures will also help improve the compliance of the establishments here in Boracay to RA 11058,” said Binag. Under DOLE Administrative Order No. 313-2019, the OSHC is tasked to facilitate the creation of additional OSHNets in regions and provinces to promote compliance of establishments to DOLE Department Order 198-18.
