According to the Labor Advisory No. 18 Guidelines on the cost of Covid-19 Prevention and Control Measures”, testing disinfection facilities, personal protective equipment (PPE), signages, and proper orientation and education of workers shall be borne by the employers.

Disinfection facilities such as hand washing stations, sanitizers, and footbaths, and PPEs like face masks, face shields, gloves, etc. frequently touched surfaces such as doorknobs, switches, counters, and phones must be disinfected every two hours.

According to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Interim Guidelines on the Workplace Prevention and Control of Covid-19, employers shall provide the appropriate face masks for workers. If they opt to give cloth masks, it must be washable and with provisions for adding filters. They are also enjoined to give free vitamins and which will boost the immune system of workers and establish a referral system for workers needing counselling or having mental health concerns.

Workplaces may also be re arranged to maintain at least 1 meter physical distance between workers and barriers between workstations may be provided to further protect the workers. Having unidirectional movement in aisles, staircases and hallways will prevent unnecessary contact between people.

The number of people in enclosed spaces such as elevators, conference rooms, canteens, and other places should be limited.  

In the case of contracted services such as construction projects, janitorial, and security services, the cost shall be shouldered y the principal or clients of the outsourced services.

The DOLE Regional Offices on the other hand shall assist employers, contractors, and sub contractors to facilitate compliance to Covid-19 workplace prevention and control measures issued by the DOLE, DTI, Department of Health and Department of Public Works and Highways.
